It can be done using a Design Thinking (DT) concept. It’s all about prioritizing employee experience to discover solutions that work better for your business. It basically means that you should look at figuring out problem as a trial and error process, considering an employee’s experience and emotion. It can be better described as a collaborative, employee-centered approach that helps in addressing a wide variety of challenges.
The concept can be segregated into four principles, they are user’s experience, examining complex problems, creating a new working prototype, and bearing failures of trial and error. These principles help in evolving ideas as you would be going through finding improvements that can result in better experiences and highly effective innovations.
It is a constant process of discovering what expertise from what departments can help others. Here, the principles can be further filtered into three phases they are innovation, testing, and implementation. Firstly, find ways for improving company’s bottom line or employee engagement, or customer service. Next is the trial and error phase where you should try the new idea on a smaller scale, then get feedback and make improvements to the practice. Finally, implement the new practice on a large scale.
Embracing design thinking will help the HR teams focus on the employee experience. They will shift their focus from developing solutions and tools around policies and processes to developing practices custom-made to the employees. And of-course that the world of work is changing at a rapid pace, but DT is not the only concept, but data analytics is also imperative. HR departments should consider it. For an HR, data analytics can be effective in a number of HR functions including recruitment. The data can help identify issues or weak areas in recruitment and develop a new process that works. Not only that, data can be used in any function of HR starting right from developing a better communication system to improving the performance of the employees. The data helps HR teams build stronger and more effective processes.
The HR teams should use both Design Thinking and Data Analytics. By combining both these concepts they would be able to build an excellent employee experience. The combination will also help them improve the engagement of their new employees. On the whole, it will increase productivity and commitment of the employees.
